A Bucket List Fit for A Theorist

“What’s your bucket list?” This was the question that came from my best friend who I will refer to as “Eva” (name has been changed to protect friendships) one brutal southeast summer day. We were on facetime, which was a generous term for an 11-year-old me watching my bestie do her math homework at two in the afternoon.

“You know a bucket list is before you die, right? I’m not even a teenager!” I had rolled my eyes. Eva put her pen down from Saxon Math 7/6 Homeschool: Student Edition.

“No, like before you get old and think Macy’s and Sephora are fun.” She said.

I hadn’t given it much thought until today when I was reading a writing prompt book. I made a rough bucket list, and I thought I could share it with you!

Kat’s Bucket List (Before I turn 18!)

  1. Meet MatPat
  2. Send Temple Grandin my drawing of her
  3. Own a chinchilla
  4. Publish Brown Eyes, Brown Hair or Storm
  5. Run 400m without having to lie down
  6. Learn how to use eyeliner
  7. Create an army of stuffies to take over the world

1. I’ll start with Meeting Matpat. I’ve watched Game Theory, Film Theory, Food Theory, and GTLive since I was about twelve, and Style Theory since it started. I love the videos and would love to meet MatPat in person. I may be starting a story that I hope will catch his attention, and yours as well if you’re paying attention.

2. I don’t seem like an artist, and I truly am terrible at drawing. A sketchbook in my hands will never end well, but I have put a lot of effort into one particular drawing: A portrait of Temple Grandin. I mentioned her in my article Normal (there’s the link if you want to read it). I want to perfect it and send it to her someday.

3. Chinchillas are adorable! Where did I get the idea? A youtuber named Imthe_annag or just Annag has three chinchillas: Tofu, Chicken, and one I currently don’t know the name of, and I fell in love with the furry little rodents.

4. This is pretty self-explanatory. Storm is a book no one reading this at it’s date of publication has seen yet, and Brown Eyes, Brown Hair is a work in progress.

5. I can’t run at all (I truly mean at all) but am in CrossFit. Tell me if you’re good at running!

6. I feel like everyone and no one has this struggle. I suddenly come down with a case of turrets whenever I so much as look at a bottle of eyeliner. I’m trying to get better, and I am making progress. Is this hard for everyone, or am I just on an island of shaky-handedness?

What is your bucket list? Have you done anything on it yet? If you don’t have one, try making one for before you turn 18! Or, if you’re already an adult, maybe before you hit your next -0 birthday or your kids get out of school!

Toodles,

Kat
